What Stars Do, and Which Order You Want
Stars are the currency Telegram runs its paid features on: paid reactions under posts, gifts, purchases inside mini apps and games, paid content in channels. Telegram sells them through app stores at app store terms, which is precisely why a second market for topping up exists. Here the payment is a card or crypto, the amount is whatever you type, and there is no Premium requirement anywhere in the flow; Stars and Premium are separate products, a question we get often enough that we wrote about buying Stars without Premium separately.
The profile order is self-explanatory: balance arrives, you spend it. The post order deserves the longer explanation, because it does two things at once. The star count on a post is public, anyone seeing the post sees how many stars it collected, and the stars themselves convert to value for the channel that posted it. That makes post orders useful from both sides of the table: sending stars to a post you respect is putting real value behind the compliment, and channel owners send stars to their own posts so the star counter is not sitting at zero, since a post already carrying stars is the one that invites more.
One switch to check before any post order: star reactions have to be enabled on that post. If the channel never turned them on, there is nowhere for the stars to land, and the order cancels with a full refund. Ten seconds of looking at the post answers it: if a star counter is there, it is on.
